1. Using the right skincare products

It’s important to remember that the usage of the right products gives the right results. For instance, we know that most men tend to use bar soaps while washing their faces. Bar soaps tend to destroy the outer protective layer of the skin, further causing your dry skin to become drier which in turn causes wrinkles or even breakouts.

A gentle soap or moisturizing body wash would do good. Some recommendations would be the Rose Shower gel from Bath and Body Works or even any soap bar that has coconut or oatmeal derivatives. It’s key to moisturize after baths.

For body moisturizers, look out for products containing Shea butter or Jojoba oil in them.

For Facial skin, there are only three important steps to be followed,

Remember ’CTM’; Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturize.

2. Step 1 Cleanse-

Always use warm water to wash your face. It helps opening out the pores and prep the skin for unclogging. Use a separate face wash. Avoid using foaming face washes and use cleansing kinds of milk instead. They are not harsh on the skin and help keep the skin hydrated.

Massage the face wash on your skin for 60 seconds it is more effective this way.

Some key ingredients to look out for while purchasing your facewash are Ginseng, Rosemary, Oatmeal, etc they help energize the skin leaving it hydrated.

Brands such as Almay, Neutrogena, Nivea, and others have good face washes for that are for dry sensitive skin.

3. Step 2 Tone-

Toning your skin becomes essential as it helps keep the pores nice and tight.  Having said that, Toning can be skipped provided you use a Moisturizer with some of the same properties that your Toner does.

The word says it all, it helps tone the skin.

Tonners with rice water or rose water or even aloe vera are very gentle and soothing for the skin. Lookout for Toners with alcohol in them and please!! Avoid them; they further tend to damage the skin.

You can make your very own toner. It’s super easy and super cheap too!

Mix parts of rose water with aloe-vera and put them in a spray bottle. Just spray it on your face and you are good to go!

Apple cider Vinegar (Mother only!) is also a very good toner.

Some Products to look out for –  Kama Ayurveda Pure Rose Water, Forest essentials Facial tonic mist pure rose water and the face shop Rice and Ceramide Moisturizing toner.

4. Step 3 Moisturize-

Moisturizing especially for dry skin is very essential!

A good moisturizer will keep your skin hydrated throughout the day to combat dryness and flakiness.

Look out for moisturizers that have an SPF in them. Dermatologists recommend an SPF of 30 and above. This helps with sun protection and also moisturizing, killing two birds with one stone.

Another thing to look for while purchasing your moisturizers is whether they contain hyaluronic acid in them or even Vitamin C. It helps heal damaged skin and aids the body’s natural collagen synthesis.
